Five new on-call recruits graduate

In an official graduation ceremony held on Friday (8 September), five Avon Fire & Rescue Service (AF&RS) on-call firefighters officially celebrated the completion of their training course at Severn Park.

Graduating alongside new recruits from Gloucestershire Fire & Rescue Service, the new recruits will be joining different fire stations around the Service area having now completed the rigorous training programme. The course provides new on-call firefighters with specialist knowledge and a wide range of practical skills including tactical firefighting, pitching ladders, breathing apparatus, road traffic collision safety and water safety and rescue.

I was delighted to attend the graduation of five new on-call firefighters, and see them start their journey with AF&RS.

I’d like to say a huge congratulations to all that graduated today, and wish them all the very best for their service with us.
