Safeguarding

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. Everyone who works for or with Avon Fire & Rescue Service has a role to play in helping to keep people safe, including colleagues, children, adults and members of the communities we serve who may be at risk of abuse, harm or neglect.

We are committed to working proactively and compassionately to protect people from harm. Where someone needs support, we will help them access the right services and ensure concerns are responded to appropriately.

We make sure our employees and volunteers are trained, supported and confident to recognise and respond to safeguarding concerns in a way that is appropriate to their role. All personnel are expected to understand their safeguarding responsibilities and to put the protection of vulnerable people at the heart of their work and actions.

DBS Checks

As part of our commitment to safer recruitment and safeguarding, everyone who works for Avon Fire & Rescue Service is required to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as part of their employment conditions. The level of check depends on the role and the type of work involved, including the level of contact a person may have with children, adults or members of the community who may be at risk.
