Fire Risk Assessments. Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the Responsible Person is legally required to ensure a suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment is completed and kept up to date. Avon Fire & Rescue Service does not complete fire risk assessments. You must appoint a competent person to carry this out. Guidance on choosing a competent assessor is available on GOV.UK and via the link below.

Fire Extinguishers
Avon Fire & Rescue Service does not supply, service, certify or dispose of fire extinguishers. The Responsible Person must ensure appropriate extinguishers are provided and maintained by a competent contractor. Please contact a BAFE-registered fire extinguisher company for advice, servicing, or installation.
Requesting a Business Fire Safety Visit
If you are seeking a regulatory fire safety inspection, your request will be reviewed and allocated to an inspecting officer where appropriate. We usually do not conduct inspections upon request, these are generally generated following identification on a risk-based approach using our Risk Based Inspection Programme, or following a complaint, referral, or post fire activity. Please contact a competent fire risk assessor for further advice. We will contact you if further information is required.
Planning Applications or Consultation Requests
Planning matters, building control queries, and consultations that fall outside the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 or outside the remit of Business Fire Safety will be redirected to the appropriate authority if required. We will advise you if this applies to your enquiry.
