New Gatton Road, Bristol

At 2:23pm on Saturday 14 December, we were called to reports of the fire and smoke issuing at a scrap metal yard on New Gatton Road, Bristol. On arrival, crews were met with a well-developed fire in an area containing approximately seven tonnes of scrap metal, including scrap household appliances.

At the height of the incident, seven fire engines were on the scene along with a water bowser from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, the Services’ drone team and specialist officers were also in attendance. Firefighters fought the fire wearing breathing apparatus and are using a number of water jets to tackle the blaze.

No one was injured during the incident.

The cause of the fire has been determined as accidental.
