Yate fire station to host charity car wash

Avon Fire & Rescue Service (AF&RS) teams will be on hand to get cars sparking clean at a charity car wash in aid of two important causes.

On Saturday 1 June, the team will open up Yate fire station for a charity car wash. The event will benefit The Fire Fighters Charity and SARAID, two causes close to the hearts of many staff.

Organisers said: “We’re looking forward to hosting another charity car was here at Yate to benefit such important causes. Come along and see us on the day, get your car cleaned and help us make a real difference!”

SARAID is a British search and rescue charity that provides humanitarian assistance around the world in response to large scale disasters. The highly trained team are all volunteers who give up their time to train to internationally recognised standards and are ready to deploy at a moment’s notice 24/7, 365 days a year.

The Fire Fighters Charity provides support services and treatment to more than 13,500 serving and retired members of staff from UK fire and rescue services. It is run at a cost of £9 million a year and is functions solely on donations from the general public and fire community.

Donations will be collected in cash and by card on the day.
