Join Avon Fire & Rescue Service for a community open morning ahead of Bristol Pride

Avon Fire & Rescue Service (AF&RS) will be hosting a community open morning at Temple Fire Station ahead of Bristol Pride on Saturday, 11 July, from 8.30-10.30am.

Opening its doors to the local community, firefighters and staff at Temple Fire Station will be on hand to deliver fire safety advice, discuss career opportunities within the fire and rescue service and host family friendly activities to keep those of all ages entertained. There will also be plenty of glitter to help those attending the event get ready for the celebrations in the city, plus light refreshments to set you up for the day.

Joining AF&RS at the event will be South Western Ambulance Service Trust (SWAST) to discuss working for the ambulance service and current vacancies. Bristol City Robins FoundationBristol Mind and UNISON will also be in attendance to talk about the important work each of their organisations do.

Following the event, staff from AF&RS will be joining its local community in the parade march throughout the city.

Chief Fire Officer Matt Cook said: “We are proud to be joining our local communities and visitors to the city in marking Bristol Pride, as well as attending other Pride events in the area. Our involvement in Pride allows us a valuable opportunity to meet the diverse communities we serve and raise awareness of fire safety, road safety, water safety, and the many services beyond responding to emergencies. It also gives us a chance to showcase the wide range of careers available at AF&RS, with members of staff on hand to give a personal insight into the roles they do.

“Our community open event at Temple Fire Station promises all of that, plus plenty to do, for a great way to start your morning ahead of Bristol Pride. We hope to see you there!”

Staff from AF&RS will also be attending Weston-super-Mare Pride on Saturday, 27 June and Clevedon Pride on Saturday, 25 July to deliver fire safety and other prevention advice, plus provide details on all the different career opportunities within the fire and rescue service.
