Transfer to Avon Fire & Rescue Service as a competent Control Firefighter. Submit your expression of interest for future permanent opportunities within the Service.
About the role
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 42 per week
We are seeking competent, skilled personnel for our Fire Control room at Lansdown, Bath, from other Fire and Rescue Services to transfer into Avon Fire & Rescue Service. This opportunity is open to competent Control Firefighters only.
Expression of interest forms will be reviewed and shortlisted, and we will be in touch regarding interview arrangements and the number of posts available.
Please be aware our Fire Control Room is based in Lansdown, near Bath, with limited public transport access.
Eligibility criteria
In order to be eligible for this transfer opportunity:
You must be a competent Control Firefighter, either currently employed or, preferably, have left your Service within the last 12 months. However, consideration may be given to those who have been out of role for longer, depending on experience and qualifications.
Evidence of Maths and English certificates at Grade C or equivalent
Satisfactory fit for role report from Occupational Health. If you are close to expiry / out of date then you will be put through a Medical Assessment.
Evidence of competence in a Fire Control role is required, either current or demonstrable at the point of leaving your previous Service
No outstanding ‘unspent’ disciplinary warnings. If you are currently subject to a management enquiry or disciplinary investigation, any appointment and subsequent offer will be subject to a risk assessment on a case-by-case basis.
The recruitment process
Should you be shortlisted to interview you will conduct a series of tests to assess your skills and have an interview to demonstrate your experience and knowledge.
If offered employment, this will be subject to:
Receipt of satisfactory reference from your current or most recent employer or educational establishment which will include:
Confirmation of your Control employment with your current FRS including any prior continuous employment
Confirmation that you have passed your probationary period
Details of any sickness over the last 12 months
Details of any performance or disciplinary issues over the last 12 months
Details of your training records
Verification of your right to work in the UK
Evidence of an in date medical. Failure to provide this will result in you needing to undertake a medical prior to employment
Standard DBS check
Successful completion of a two week Conversion Course
