Other requests for information
How to request any other information
There may be times when your information request does not fall under the remit of either Freedom of Information or Data Protection legislation. These other types of requests for information are dealt with by the Information Governance team on a case-by-case basis.
We would need to know:
- your contact details
- who is the person requesting the information (if this is someone different)
- what information you are looking for, including any date range if applicable, document types etc.
- an explanation of why the information is required, such as your vested interest or any other legislation that permits you to obtain the information
We may ask for verification from you to ensure you have lawful right to this information, such as a copy of your ID, proof of address, or proof of ownership or tenancy (for commercial premises).
We may require a copy of the policy agreement if it is for information for insurance claims purposes.
If you are acting on behalf of someone else (a 3rd party), we may require a copy of your letter of engagement/authority or copy of your contract with them.
If the information you seek involves another party other than yourself or who you are acting for, we may contact any other interested parties for their feedback in case we need to consider whether releasing the information will have an adverse effect on them or their business. We will consider any feedback provided, however the decision to release any information rests with us.
Examples of requests that may fall into the above remit:
- Requests for information held by our Business Fire Safety department (premises Fire Safety Audits/Inspections and other correspondence),
- Requests for further incident information above that we would normally release under the Freedom of Information Act (such as our standard incident reports).

Requests for information are responded to within 20 working days, providing we do not require any further information from you to assist with the processing of your request.
