The current Blagdon Fire Station was built in 1971, replacing the old fire station which is now the village coffee shop.
Blagdon is a rural village with some significant sites contained within our station response area, including lots of heritage sites, listed buildings and some significant manufacturing, farming and industrial sites. The A38 trunk road runs through our response area and Bristol Airport is on the border of this area.
It is crewed by on-call firefighters from a wide variety of backgrounds, including local tradespeople, HR management, Health and Safety management, along with several wholetime firefighters who undertake on call duties as a secondary contract.
The current fire engine is a water rescue tender, more commonly referred to as a pump. This carries a wide range of equipment that will allow us to deal with a wide range of incidents. Along with the expected equipment such as ladders, hoses, and water, it’s also equipped for dealing with road traffic collisions, environmental incidents, medical incidents and firefighters are also able to offer community safety advice and guidance.
Firefighters at Blagdon Station drill on a Monday night, usually at the station, and the doors are always open for anyone that would like a chat.
