In an emergency always call 999
It is with great sadness that we have heard the tragic news from Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, where two firefighters and a member of the public have lost their lives following a fire at a former RAF base in Oxfordshire.
Chief Fire Officer Matt Cook said: “The loss of any firefighter is felt deeply across our fire and rescue community. We stand in solidarity with our colleagues in Oxfordshire at this incredibly difficult time. On behalf of everyone at Avon Fire & Rescue Service, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the families, friends and crews who have been affected by this tragedy.”
As a mark of respect, on Friday 16 May all fire stations across Avon Fire & Rescue Service lowered their flags to half-mast at 12 noon followed by a two-minute silence in memory of those lost. This small but meaningful gesture is a symbol of solidarity with our colleagues in Oxfordshire and a tribute to those who have lost their lives.
