What is neurodiversity and why does it matter in the workplace?

Neurodiversity describes the differences in the way that people think. Some people may be diagnosed with neurological conditions such as autism, dyslexia, ADHD, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, or Tourette’s, considering themselves neurodivergent.

The neurodiversity movement acknowledges that while these differences may present challenges, they also bring remarkable strengths and talents to the workforce.

What is the Service doing?

As part of our commitment to supporting neurodiverse colleagues, we have established a Neurodiversity Network. This network serves as a platform for staff to connect, share experiences, and access support tailored to their unique needs.

“The Neurodiversity Network has given me a place to meet with likeminded people and support each other. It means a lot to me to work in a place where our differences are celebrated and supported.”

Libby – Corporate Communications team

Additionally, we have organised a guest speaker in our next Staff Engagement Network meeting who will talk to us about neurodiversity in the workplace, sharing ways that we can support one another.

As part of our efforts to raise awareness and promote understanding, we encourage everyone to actively engage in Neurodiversity Celebration Week. Let’s celebrate our differences, challenge stereotypes, and work together to build a more inclusive and supportive community.
