Five days left to have your say on Avon Fire & Rescue Service’s future and funding

Avon Fire & Rescue Service (AF&RS) is urging local residents, businesses, and stakeholders to have their say on the Services’ future plans and proposed increase in Council Tax before the survey closes at 12 noon on Friday, 7 February.

This is our local communities’ chance to have their say and share their views on our Service Plan 2024-2028 objectives and the proposed £5 increase (for the average Band D household) in the fire and rescue part of the Council Tax.

These responses are vital as they will help ensure the Service effectively manages risks, provides excellent value for money, and remains a great place to work.

Why your input matters

The Service Plan outlines key commitments to enhancing community safety, including fire prevention, risk reduction, and emergency response. With the input of its community The Service must make important decisions while maintaining the highest possible standard of service.

As a Service, our main aim is to make our communities safer and we do that by preventing fires through education, protecting you in your homes and your places of work, and by responding to fires.

“We are now one year into our four-year plan and what you think about our progress matters to us and that’s why it’s important that you take part in this survey, to make your voice heard.”

“As with many public sector organisations, we are facing some real financial constraints, and we must be honest about the challenges we face in maintaining our level of service. However, the safety of our communities remains our top priority, and we are committed to working with local people, partners, and staff to ensure that we make the best use of every pound we receive.”
