Avon Fire & Rescue Service invites local community to a planning consultation on the future of Bath Fire Station

Avon Fire & Rescue Service (AF&RS) are inviting local residents and the wider community to Bath Fire Station to see what’s planned for the future of the station and to welcome everyone’s views.

A community planning consultation, hosted at the station, will take place on Tuesday 10 June and those interested can drop in at any point between 12 noon and 7.30pm.

AF&RS will be rebuilding their fire station in Bath, making a significant step towards modernising the facility to meet the demands of contemporary firefighting. Plans for the new building aim to improve the response, operational efficiency and prevention work to better serve their community.

The Service has appointed construction company Willmott Dixon to carry out the redevelopment programme and have previously worked together on the redevelopment of Temple and Hicks Gate Fire Stations. Representatives from Willmott Dixon and the appointed design team, alongside AF&RS’s dedicated project team, will be on hand during the day to answer any questions and address any concerns.

Patrick Hollins, Head of Estates at AF&RS, said: “While we continue to develop our plans and prepare to submit a planning application, feedback from our neighbours, residents in the city and the wider community, is integral to informing our design proposals and the application. It was great to speak to a number of people at our recent water safety awareness day at Bath Station, all of whom were supportive of what we’re aiming to achieve.

“As your local fire station, we understand the importance of minimal disruption during the rebuild and delivering a new facility which will put us in a stronger position to better serve our communities. Please do come along as we’d love to show you our plans and hear your thoughts.”

Those attending are encouraged to walk or travel in by public transport to the station as parking will not be available on site. Please email [email protected] with any questions or concerns ahead of the consultation and share any feedback via a feedback form (the form is now closed). Alternatively, you can visit the AF&RS website for more information on the Bath Fire Station redevelopment programme.

Bath Fire Station, located on Bathwick Street in the city, is one of the Service’s oldest fire stations, built in 1938. The station is crewed by wholetime and on-call firefighters, and home to Business Fire Safety Officers and support staff.
