At 16:52 on 29 July 2024, crews from Patchway, Temple, Avonmouth, Southmead, Clevedon, Bedminster, Weston, Yate, Kingswood, Nailsea, and Portishead were called to reports of a fire at a disused property.

Over the course of the incident, over 30 fire service assets were deployed to the scene, including turntable ladders and the Service’s drone. Firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used high pressure hose reels and a high-volume pump to extinguish the fire at around midnight.

Working closely with police, council, Highways and Bristol Water colleagues, a road closure was put in place between Lysander Road roundabout and Station Road roundabout. This has since been lifted.

Due to the history of the building and the severity of the fire damage, the cause of the incident is said to have been deliberate ignition.
