As our Community Safety Worker you will provide tailored fire safety advice to vulnerable people in the community, communicating sensitively and respectfully during home visits and referring any concerns to your manager or relevant agencies.
Through education, safety information, and the provision of alarms and equipment, you will help reduce fire-related deaths and injuries and improve overall safety awareness.
This role involves you being out in the community and is a solo delivery role.
Some of the things you will be doing
Conduct Level 1 Home Fire Safety Visits within the Retained Duty System areas.
Conduct Level 2 Home Fire Safety Visits to the most vulnerable and at risk members of our community to provide advice and guidance on all aspects of fire safety.
Develop an understanding of the diverse needs of vulnerable individuals, in liaison with other agencies, relevant groups and specialists.
Fit and test smoke alarms.
Prepare reports to assist in future interventions and inform case reviews where necessary.
Attend multi-agency meetings to assist in reducing the risk of vulnerable individuals and facilitate training to increase their agency representatives’ awareness of fire and home safety considerations.
With consideration to safeguarding legislation, where potential signs of abuse and /or neglect are identified, record relevant information accurately and alert the appropriate local authority team to enable further action to be taken.
Carry out any additional responsibilities as reasonable and appropriate, as agreed with line manager.

With effect from July 2023 legislation was amended to enable all Fire & Rescue Services to undertake standard DBS checks for all employees. All job roles require a standard DBS check, with certain defined roles requiring an enhanced check. These will be renewed throughout employment.
