Off duty firefighters and support staff from across Avon Fire & Rescue Service will be taking part in a charity car wash at Yate Fire Station.
Members of the public will be invited to have their windscreens washed and their bonnets buffed at the Station Road premises in Yate on Saturday 21 August, from 10am.
Members of the public will be asked to give a donation in return for their car wash and money raised from the event will be given to The Fire Fighters Charity and the Avon Fire & Rescue Service women’s hockey team.
Avon Fire & Rescue Service Group Manager for South Gloucestershire, Sarah Allen, said: “Our car wash events at the station always prove to be very popular with the local community.
“Not only do they get a clean vehicle, but they also get the chance to meet their local firefighters and talk to them about fire and road safety.
“We hope members of the public will help us to raise money for two really good causes by supporting this event.”
Firefighter Emma Williams, who is a member of the AF&RS women’s hockey team and based at Yate Fire Station, said: “Staying fit and healthy is a must for any firefighter, so we came up with the idea to form a hockey team as part of our fitness training. As the team is really new we need some funding to help us pay for some equipment.
“We also really enjoy raising money for The Fire Fighters Charity, so this is a great way to do both.”
