Shop fire in Kingswood

Regent Street, Kingswood

A fire engine leaving a station in response to an emergency callMultiple crews attended a fire at a three-storey terraced building just after 23.00hrs on Wednesday 10 April.

This was a ground floor shop with flats on the two floors above.

Fortunately none of the flats were occupied at the time and there are no reports of anyone being injured as a result of the blaze.

The fire appears to have started in the ground floor shop premises, and the other floors were heavily smoke-logged.

A total of 10 firefighters used two high pressure hose reels to tackled the flames.

Road closures were put in place in Regent Street and Downend Road during the operation.

Crews were at the scene until around 2.30am.

Firefighters returned three hours later with thermal imaging equipment to check for any potential hotspots and a further inspection will take place this morning.

A full fire investigation will take place later today but initial indications suggest that this fire started accidentally.
