Tower Road North, Warmley
Fire crews were called out after smoke filled a home in Warmley.
Two fire engines from Speedwell Fire Station attended the incident after a woman in her 30s made a 999 call. When crews arrived she had escaped the property along with a baby.
Two firefighters in breathing apparatus made a search of the property to identify the cause of the smoke. Their investigations led them to a section of flue under floorboards on the first floor which was connected to a woodburning stove on the ground floor.
It’s thought heat had transferred from the flue, causing joints and floorboards to catch fire. Firefighters removed sections of carpet and flooring, before using a hose reel to extinguish the small fire.
The woman was treated on the scene by paramedics for the effects of smoke inhalation but did not need hospital treatment.
