Bristol Road, Falfield
Fire crews responded to reports of a single-vehicle incident involving a car colliding with an electricity pole in Falfield.
It would appear that a Mazda car containing three people left the road, collided with the power pole and ended up in a hedge.
Two crews from Avonmouth Fire Station together with two retained crews from Thornbury Fire Station attended.
Two of the three occupants of the Mazda had already got out of the vehicle by the time crews arrived but the third person was trapped.
Firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the roof of the vehicle in order to release the man, who was taken to hospital by ambulance.
The collision with the electric pole affected the power supply to a nearby house and an electricity engineer was called.
Fire crews were detained at the scene for about an hour and 20 minutes.
