Fire crews have spent the day at the scene of a barn fire.
Crews were called in the early hours of the morning and once on scene found the large barn well alight. Firefighters from Yate, Kingswood and Speedwell were in the first attendance at the incident which involved a farm building measuring around 50m x 20m.
The barn was being used to store farm machinery as well as around 120 tonnes of hay. Firefighters worked to bring the fire under control using jets to prevent the blaze from spreading to other buildings nearby. Crews were also able to move a number of items of farm machinery to safety.
The decision was taken to allow a controlled burn of the affected hay with crews standing by throughout the day. In total 12 fire appliances attended throughout the day from a number of stations. The cause of the fire is unknown.
