Fire crews were successful in stopping a fire from spreading through the roof of a bungalow.
Two appliances from Yate and one from Kingswood fire station attended the incident after the occupant of the detached property smelt smoke. On arrival at the scene crews found a section of the roof well alight and immediately set to work in an effort to prevent the fire spreading to other parts of the building.
Firefighters used ladders to reach the rood where they removed tiles and felt before using hose reels to extinguish the flames. The blaze caused fire damage to the roof and water damage was also caused inside the property by the firefighting efforts.
The fire is believed to have been caused after roof timbers near a flue overheated and caught fire.
