Yate house severely damaged by fire

Edgeworth, Yate

Crews were called to a fire at a terraced house in Edgeworth in Yate and when firefighters arrived the house was well alight.

Firefighters in breathing apparatus used two high pressure hose reels and three water jets to tackle the fire.

The fire caused extensive damage to the ground and first floor of the house and also spread to the loft.

The fire did not spread further but adjoining properties did suffer smoke damage

All people were accounted for and there are no injuries.

The British Red Cross emergency response service attended to provide support to the residents of the house.

Seven crews attended the incident from Yate, Kingswood, Patchway, Thornbury, Southmead, Portishead and Avonmouth.

The fire was caused accidentally by clothing in a plastic basket being left on an electric hob.
