Crews tackle scrapyard blaze

Tower Road South, Warmley

More than 50 calls were received by the Avon Fire & Rescue Service Control room reporting a fire in a scrapyard.

When crews arrived on scene they found a building measuring approximately 15 metres by 15 metres filled with scrap vehicles well alight.

The call was made to make pumps six for water and resources. Four firefighters in breathing apparatus used four 45mm jets to extinguish the fire and also cool a number of cylinders containing acetylene.

It’s thought the fire was started deliberately.
