Cause of fire in bank under investigation

High Street, Thornbury

Four fire engines were called to respond to a fire at a bank.

Two crews from Thornbury along with a crew from Patchway and Southmead fire stations were alerted to the incident in the early hours of the morning.

Six firefighters in breathing apparatus tackled the fire on the ground floor of the bank. Smoke also affected the first floor of the two storey building. Crews used hose reels to extinguish the fire and a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear smoke.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the police and fire and rescue service.
