Firefighters remain on scene to damp down and extinguish any hotspots following the fire.
One fire engine is currently at the scene and the investigation into the cause of the fire is now underway.
During the firefighting operation five firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used three high pressure hose reels to put the fire out. The Aerial Rescue Pump was used to get water onto the fire from above.
Around 26 people were evacuated from their homes in the local area due to the smoke, but have since been allowed to return.
Crews remained on the scene for much of the night.
Firefighters are on scene dealing with a fire in an industrial unit in Kingswood.
The Avon Fire & Rescue Service Control room received more than 30 calls to the incident as thick black smoke could be seen across a wide area.
When firefighters arrived they found a building measuring approximately 50 metres by 40 metres well alight. At the height of the fire more than 50 firefighters were on scene with eight fire engines, an aerial rescue pump and a number of supporting appliances.
There were reports that someone may have been inside but all persons have been accounted for and no one has been hurt.
Crews remain on the scene and are expected to do so for some time. Local people are asked to avoid the area and close all doors and windows as a precaution due to the smoke.
An investigation into the cause of the fire will be carried out tomorrow.
