Crews called to alert at recycling facility

Short Way, Thornbury

Fire crews were called to assist in the identification of a package left at a recycling facility at Short Way, Thornbury.

The police and ambulance service also attended the incident. As a precaution the site was evacuated and people in the immediate vicinity were advised to close doors and windows.

Six crews from Thornbury, Patchway and Brislington fire stations attended and used specialist equipment for the identification of substances which may pose a risk to the public. Following an investigation the package was found to be harmless.
