Lady sustains burns in cooking fire

Mill Close, Coalpit Heath

A lady was treated for burns and the effects of smoke inhalation after oil she was cooking with caught fire.

Two fire engines from Yate were called after the fire broke out in the kitchen.  Two firefighters in breathing apparatus used a high pressure hose reel to deal with the small fire.  A positive pressure ventilation fan was then used to clear smoke from the home. The fire caused limited damage to the kitchen.

One woman aged in her 20s, who was cooking using oil when the fire started, suffered burns and inhaled smoke. Fire crews provided initial first aid before paramedics took over her care. She was later transferred to hospital.
