Valley Road, Portishead
Avon Fire & Rescue Service remains on the scene of a fire at Black Rock Quarry, Portishead.
Currently there are two fire engines and a High Volume Pump (HVP) pumping water on to the building.
There are still a number of small fires burning in the area underneath the collapsed roof so a piece of specialist equipment is being brought in to allow access. The equipment will be used to make cuts into the walls of the building.
Once access to the building is gained, it may be necessary to increase the number of fire engines attending, depending on the scale of the fire.
The investigation into the cause of the fire has not started and will not begin until the fire is fully extinguished and it is deemed safe to enter the building.
