Bristol city centre
Fire investigation officers and the police are looking into four fires that are believed to have been started deliberately in the centre of Bristol.
At 18.18hrs crews were called to deal with a fire in a rubbish bin at the rear of the Bristol Hippodrome on St Augustine's Parade. This was followed by a second call at 18.40hrs reporting another rubbish bin on fire at nearby Host Street. In both cases a high pressure hose reel was used to deal with the blazes.
At 18.54hrs firefighters were then asked to attend a fire involving an Audi vehicle in a car park in Broad Street. Crews in breathing apparatus used water and foam to extinguish the fire which caused serious damage to the car.
This incident was followed at 19.45hrs by a call to another rubbish bin on fire at the rear of shops on the Horsefair. Fire crews used a high pressure hose reel to deal with the fire.
It was believed that all four fires may have been started deliberately so fire investigation officers and the police were called in to carry out further enquiries.
