High Street, Congresbury, North Somerset
Firefighters responded to reports of sheep in the River Yeo close to the Ship and Castle public house in Congresbury.
One of the animals was on the lower part of the river bank, surrounded by brambles.
Firefighters used special safety equipment and ropes to prevent themselves from slipping before rescuing this animal.
Two other sheep, one of which was dead, were in the water.
Members of the Bedminster-based swift water rescue team helped to herd the sheep safely towards the bank and recovered the body of the dead one.
Crews were detained at the scene for about an hour.
