Firefighters have dealt with a well developed fire involving the roof of a cottage.
When crews arrived they found the roof well alight. Fortunately, a man, a woman and their dog had managed to get to safety and were unharmed.
Six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire using two high pressure hose reels and one 45mm jet. Crews had to strip away many of the roof tiles to access the fire and ensure it was fully out.
It’s thought the fire started accidentally in a bedroom where there was a wood burning stove and it then spread to the roof.
The Red Cross Fire and Emergency Support Service, which is based at Keynsham Fire Station, attended the incident to offer support to the couple.

The property was left badly damaged.
