Three people had a lucky escape from their home after a television caught fire, spreading to a nearby desk.
When crews arrived at the property the mother and two teenaged children were already outside unharmed.
Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the house and found a fire in the first floor bedroom. Using two Co2 extinguishers and a high pressure hose reel, crews quickly dealt with the fire. They then ventilated the premises using a positive pressure ventilation fan.
It appears the fire started accidentally after a television overheated and caught fire. The room was badly damaged by fire and the rest of the property suffered minor smoke damage.
On discovering the fire the family closed all the doors inside before leaving the premises and this helped to prevent the fire from spreading further.
