Cylinder explodes in food stand

Ashton Road, Long Ashton

A propane cylinder explosion in a food stand caused major damage and also affected nearby vehicles and other food stands.

Two crews from Bedminster fire station and one from Temple attended the incident.

Four firefighters in breathing apparatus used two high-pressure hose reels to extinguish the blaze.

A search for debris was also undertaken, with bits of the cylinder damaging a nearby marquee.

Three other propane cylinders were monitored using thermal imaging cameras for safety purposes. 

Police were in attendance and the cause is thought to be deliberate.
