Horse rescued after night in a ditch

Firefighters have rescued a horse after it spent a night in a water filled ditch.

Crews from Weston-super-Mare and Bedminster fire stations were called to help the 30 year old animal which was unable to climb from the ditch.

Using a strop firefighters were able to pull the animal to safety. It was left in the care of a vet, but it is hoped it will make a full recovery.

Faulty electrical appliances, wiring and overloaded sockets cause around 7,000 fires in the home every year in the UK.
