Two people and dog escape house fire

Old Church Road, Uphill, Weston-super-Mare

Firefighters from Weston-super-Mare Fire Station were called to deal with a house fire.

When crews arrived they found the property well alight. Fortunately, the occupants, a man in his 60s, a woman in her 50s and a dog, escaped with minor smoke inhalation. The couple were checked over at the scene by paramedics and did not need hospital treatment. The dog was unharmed.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a high pressure hose reel and a 45mm covering jet to extinguish the fire. A thermal imaging camera was used to check for hotspots once the fire was out.

It’s thought the fire started accidentally after a fault with a fridge. The house was left badly damaged by fire and smoke.
