Woman rescued from kitchen fire

Down Road, Portishead

Firefighters rescued a woman following a house fire.

When crews arrived on scene they found a fire in the ground floor kitchen of the property and there were reports that someone was inside.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the premises and found a woman in her 30s, who they brought to safety. She was given oxygen by firefighters and taken to hospital by ambulance.

Crews then ventilated the property. It’s thought the fire started accidentally after cooking was left unattended.

Avon Fire & Rescue Service would like to remind people to take care when cooking and never leave it unattended as it could lead to fire breaking out. For mor fire safety advice click here
