Two taken to hospital after kitchen fire

Court Road, Kewstoke, Weston-super-Mare

Two people were taken to hospital following a fire at a house.

When crews arrived at the property they found a male and a female suffering from the effects of breathing in smoke. They were given oxygen therapy by firefighters and then taken to hospital.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one high pressure hose reel and a 45mm jet to extinguish the fire, which is thought to have started accidentally after cooking was left on a hob.

Fortunately, the smoke alarms activated and raised the alarm, meaning the male and female in the property were able to escape.
