Woman cut free from RTC

M5 northbound junctions 22 to 21

A woman has been cut from her car by firefighters following a road traffic collision.

Crews were requested to attend the incident by Devon and Somerset Fire & Rescue Service.

On arrival firefighters found three vehicles involved – a light goods lorry, a Renault Megane and another car. The male drivers of the light goods vehicle and the Megane were already out and unharmed when firefighters arrived.

However, a woman in the other vehicle, which had left the road and gone down an embankment, was trapped. A man who was in the car with her had managed to get out unharmed.

Firefighters quickly stabilised the vehicle and using hydraulic cutting equipment they removed the roof of the car. Working alongside paramedics the woman, who was thought to be in her 50s, was assisted on to a spinal board and taken to hospital.
