Martcombe Road, Easton in Gordano
Firefighters have removed the roof of a car to rescue a man following a road traffic collision.
On arrival firefighters found two vehicles involved – a Volkswagen Polo and a Vauxhall Cavalier. The driver of the Cavalier, a man in his 50s, was already out of the car and was unhurt.
However, a man in 40s was trapped in the Volkswagen Polo, so firefighters quickly stabilised the vehicle then used hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the roof of the car.
Working alongside paramedics the man was assisted on to a spinal board and taken to hospital with suspected spinal injuries, not thought to be life-threatening.
The road was closed for the duration of the incident.
