Bramley Close, Pill
A man rescued his three neighbours during a fire at their home.
When firefighters arrived on the scene they found smoke issuing from the property and there were reports that someone was inside.
Six firefighters in breathing apparatus entered the house and dealt with the fire using two 45mm jets. A positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear the smoke.
As there had been reports that someone was inside the property crews conducted a thorough search and all persons were accounted for.
It appears a mother, a three year-old child and a six month-old baby were assisted to safety by a neighbour via an upstairs window.
It’s thought the fire started accidentally in the kitchen.
Whilst Avon Fire & Rescue Service would never advise members of the public to put their own safety at risk to rescue someone, the neighbour’s actions in this case undoubtedly saved the occupants’ lives.
Avon Fire & Rescue Service would always advise that on discovering a fire, get out, stay out and dial 999.
