Driver rescued from RTC by firefighters

The Combe, Burrington, Blagdon

A woman has been cut from her car by firefighters after a road traffic collision.

When crews arrived on the scene they found a BMW 3 Series and another car involved. The female driver of the BMW, thought to be in her 50s, was trapped.

Using hydraulic cutting equipment firefighters removed the roof of the car and worked with paramedics to assist the woman on to a spinal board.

She was taken to hospital suffering from suspected spinal, wrist and ankle injuries, not thought to be life-threatening.

Two men who had been in a second vehicle were already out when crews arrived and were unhurt.

The road was closed while the incident was ongoing.
