Pony rescued from water-filled ditch

Back Lane, Kingston Seymour

Firefighters rescued a pony from a water-filled drainage ditch.

When crews arrived they found the mare called Alice up to her neck in water. It’s thought she had been there for around 12 hours.

After putting a head collar on to the animal, a firefighter wearing a dry suit entered the water to lead the horse to safety. Another pony was also used to entice the horse in the right direction. Alice was then able to climb out of the ditch.

A vet was in attendance but a part from being cold, wet and dirty, Alice was unharmed.
