Old Mill Road, Portishead
Firefighters tackled a large fire involving rubbish which was spreading to a nearby building.
On arrival at the incident crews found three rubbish bins and wooden pallets in a storage area well alight. The fire was also affecting approximately 20 metres of fencing and a number of air conditioning units, as well as the lighting and cladding of a nearby building.
In order to prevent the fire spreading further, crews had to force entry into the building, which is used as a shop. They isolated the electricity supply and ensured the fire was fully out using a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots.
The fire outside was dealt with using two high pressure hose reels and a 45mm jet.
An investigation into the cause of the fire found it was started deliberately.
