Crews tackle Portishead house fire

Brampton Way, Portishead

Firefighters dealt with a blaze at a detached property.

On arrival crews found the garage attached to the property well alight and the fire spreading to the roof space of the two-storey building.

At the height of the fire six fire engines from Portishead, Avonmouth, Nailsea and Temple fire stations were on the scene with a number of supporting vehicles also attending.

Eight firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two high pressure hose reels and two 45mm jets to extinguish the fire.

Fortunately the female occupant, her two children and dogs managed to escape unharmed after smelling smoke and discovering the fire in the garage.

No one was injured.

An investigation into the cause of the fire found it started accidentally after a fault with a tumble drier.House fireHouse fireHouse fire
