Elderly woman rescued from car

Beach Road, Weston-super-Mare

A woman in her 80s had to be cut from her car by firefighters following a road traffic collision.

When firefighters arrived they found the woman trapped in a Honda Jazz and complaining of hip and pelvic pain.

Crews quickly stabilised the car. Using hydraulic cutting equipment they removed the driver’s door of the vehicle.

The woman was then assisted to safety and taken to hospital by ambulance.

Every three days someone dies from a fire caused by a cigarette.
