Man rescued from bungalow blaze

A fire engine leaving a station in response to an emergency callFirefighters rescued a 66-year-old man from the bedroom of his bungalow in Weston-super-Mare today.

The alarm was raised at 08.35hrs and three fire engines went to a semi-detached property in Ennerdale Close.

A 66-year-old man was rescued from the property and given oxygen therapy at the scene by firefighters.

He was then taken to hospital by ambulance.

Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two high-pressure hose reels to put out the fire, which is thought to have been started accidentally, and then worked to help ventilate the property.
