Crews from Bedminster and Temple fire stations were called to a fire in the roof of a residential property on Springleaze in Knowle.
On arrival, six firefighters in breathing apparatus used two high-pressure hose reels and two 45mm jets to extinguish the fire.
They also used a turntable ladder and thermal imaging cameras to monitor the situation.
They also used a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear smoke from the property.
The cause is thought to be accidental.
Police and ambulance were also in attendance.
