Crews from Temple and Bedminster were called at 10:59 to reports of a fire at a five-storey building. On arrival, firefighters found smoke issuing from a flat on the ground floor.
Crews used one high pressure hose reel and one 45mm jet to extinguish the blaze in the kitchen of the flat. Two firefighters wore breathing apparatus for safety. A smoke curtain, positive pressure ventilation (PPV) fan, gas monitor and thermal imaging camera were also used.
A male casualty was assessed at the scene by AF&RS.
The cause of the fire is thought to have been accidental ignition.
