Firefighters tackle balcony fire in city centre

Jacob Wells Road, Bristol city centre

Firefighters from across the city were called to a balcony fire in Bristol city centre.

Two crews from Temple fire station and one from Bedminster, Southmead and Kingswood fire stations all attended the blaze in the 10 story building.

A command unit from Kingswood also attended.

Four firefighters in breathing apparatus used two high-pressure hose reels and a turntable ladder to extinguish the fire in a flat on the first floor.

Smoke was also affecting the flat directly above.

30 people were evacuated from the building.

The cause of the fire was accidental.
