Fire in plant room at Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre

Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre, Kingsdown, Bristol

Multiple crews were called to the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre to reports of alarms and smoke issuing from the building.

Firefighters in breathing apparatus entered the building searching for the fire, which was located on the ground floor of the six floor building, in the plant room.

Multiple Co2 extinguishers and safety jets were used to extinguish the fire and patients were evacuated from the building by firefighters and hospital staff and taken to the nearby heart institute building.

Once the patients were evacuated, firefighters worked to ventilate each of the rooms on the six floors of the building ensuring they were clear of smoke.

The cause of the fire is thought to be accidental.
